My Story

I was working at Wayfair when I had my daughter. As maternity leave came to an end, I struggled to find harmony between the commute, daycare, and growing guilt of reducing myself to a bedtime and weekend parent. I left Wayfair and opted for part time work from home job to compliment my now full time mom job. Somewhere between wondering what booger crusted sweatshirt I was going to wow the world with that day and listening to twinkle twinkle for the 118th time, I lost it. I needed more. I immersed myself into put off renovations around the house- tearing down wallpaper, painting, building, cursing over bad plumbing and learning how to do it better. I felt like a grownup again, wielding my hammer and drill, strutting into the Home Depot, and rewarding my sweaty self with a beer after a productive day's work. I found myself taking advantage of every nap my daughter took to do more. I loved that I was once again being creative and using my hands to breathe new life into forgotten spaces. Pink Pinecone was born out of the relentless need to work, create, and see the potential in everything. Perhaps it’s the sense of empathy I share with these discarded pieces that moves me to reawaken the beauty and life that lies within. Remind them, and perhaps myself, that there are new chapters ahead and we are a long way away from retirement.

My Background

Prior to this endeavor, I worked at Wayfair alongside interior designers to create beautiful residential and commercial spaces. I taught art to children of all ages, capabilities, and special needs, built several pieces for our home (including this table), designed her nursery, and transformed this bathroom while renovating our own “fixer-upper.” I earned BA and MFA degrees in Art Education from Boston University, got published, and commissioned paintings. My training in art, creativity, and knack for handiwork give me the opportunity to turn ideas into reality.

I live north of Boston with my wonderful husband, daughter, and pup.

With so much appreciation and thanks,
Diana

Why Pink Pinecone?

Good furniture starts with a strong foundation that’s proven to withstand the harsh elements and test of time- a pine tree. Pinecones are how these trees begin their new chapter; they’re a new beginning.
Pink is a color associated with making things “pretty” and in this combination of strength and beauty we have Pink Pinecone.
